Faryaad

 No doubt All Dua's of Allam Iqbal are heart melting that they can ignite the flame of passion within hearts. His Dua's really reveals some hidden aspects of his personality such as his level of Marifat, Ishq and Ajazi he exclaims in front of Allah and his Prophets.

commenting on his Dua's considering my self as  a common reader of his works Iwould say

The Best Dua's Ever are the Masnoon Dua's of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) . People of knowledge who analyse and ponder over His words would agree that their is no other Person on Earth who have ever asked for most elementary factors for human survival in more beautiful way than Prophet Mohammad (SAAW)  in Arabic.

Then comes Dua's of Allama Iqbal. I hope People of Knowledge specially who know urdu and Farsi ,  may soon recognise his Dua's as to be the best in Urdu and Farsi Language.

Every one is Aware of Power of Dua's. but if they are probed in such good words not for the sake of poetry but if they naturally originate in beautiful words in your own language as they used to in case of Allama Iqbal (R.A) . Such are the Dua's that can defeat Taqdeer.

Being not good at Farsi I used to read the translation on official website of Allama Iqbal (www.Allamiqbal.com) But when i read them side by side Farsi and English, Verse after Verse its magic was different .

I found this was helping me in four thing

1) Grasping the original Text of Dua Better
2) Imporving my Understanding of Farsi
3) Getting close to the original text without the help of translati0n after reading it for mamy times side by side
4) Acknowledging that Translation is after all just Translation and cannot be equivalent to the real text and the real spirit of Kalaam e Iqbal .

I Appeal Allama Iqbal Academy to publish such a version of Kalam E Iqbal Urdu and Farsi Poetry with transalation of each verse seperately  ONLINE  please

I Appeal Allama Iqbal Academy to Publish a Book based only on Dua's of Allama Shahib with translation and make is easilly available for us. Please

If any one already knows about any such publications please inform me.

For now Enjoy  this Dua of Allama Iqbal in original text and translation side by side (a small and clumsy effort by me.) verse # 70 farsi text is missing

you are most welcome to post your reading experience  as Comments :)

Upon Westminster Bridge and Kinara e Ravi

UPON WESTMINSTER BRIDGE
WILLIAM WORDSWORTH
Earth has not anything to show more fair:
Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty:
This City now doth like a garment wear

The beauty of the morning: silent, bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie
Open unto the fields, and to the sky,
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.

Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendour valley, rock, or hill;
Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!

The river glideth at his own sweet will:
Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still.

Words worth and Iqbal both are well known in the world of poetry and literature but I was awe struck by comparing both of them side by side
Comparing both we can draw a clear line between poetry and wisdom poetry.
Wordworth is standing on Westminster bridge, the view is most probably the same as that on kinara e ravi. See images.

 River Ravi

Westminster Bridge

 Wordsworth could only express his feelings that he experienced on visiting Westminster Bridge at dawn!
It was so calm and quite and serene at that time, which is  in contrast with what it is at afternoon. That’s  it !

But Iqbal…………. his thought …..his far sightedness..His deep Thinking  ……  his perfectly chosen words , what I call as his wisdom quotes.!  His analysis of this world and the hereafter…... His way of expression makes you feel standing right there. But not just to observe a sunset or a boat………..

 his writing fingers having writ move to unveil some mysteries, and some realities expressed beautifully in this poem.
I admire his observation when he compares the moving boat with life of a human being and the disappearance of boat with death of a human. And I admire his confident conclusion that many might disagree or are still unaware of …
And that is
 ‘Death’ that seems like a permanent end to a human life is actually his disappearance from this world. We cannot see him anymore, due to our short sightedness. But he is still moving on and continues to exist …..

Sun Set at Ravi

ON THE BANK OF THE RAVI
By Allama Iqbal

Raft in its music, in evening’s hush, the Ravi;
But how it is with this heart, do not ask—
Hearing in these soft cadences a prayer‐call,
Seeing all earth God’s precinct, here beside
The margins of the onward‐flowing waters
Standing I scarcely know where I am standing.
With palsied hand the taverner of heaven
Has brought the cup: red wine stains evening’s skirt;
Day’s heading caravan has made haste towards
Extinction: twilight smoulders like hot ash
Of the sun’s funeral pyre. In solitude
Far off, magnificent, those towers stand, Where

The flower of Mughal chivalry lies asleep;
A legend of Time’s tyranny is that palace;
A book, the register of days gone by;
No mansion, but a melody of silence—
No trees, but an unspeaking parliament.

Swiftly across the river’s bosom glides
A boat, the oarsman wrestling with the waves,
A skiff light‐motioned as a darting glance,
Soon far beyond the eye’s carved boundary.

“So glides the bark of mortal life, in the ocean
Of eternity so born, so vanishing,
Yet never knowing what is death; for it
May disappear from sight, but cannot perish.”

“ for it May disappear from sight, but cannot perish.”

ATTAR The seven valleys

the valley of faqr o fana … the hardest to reach the most rewarding and most pleasant. How wonderful adventure, it would have been; to discover myself; If I was one of those birds.

I admire the undaunted faith of these thirty travellers by deciding to explore this valley.
 In the valley of faqr and fana the travellers received an excellent reward because they entered in it full of hope, That they will definitely find simorgh here… and they did !

I admire the self-discovery of these travellers in this valley. And yes this discovery is only possible by adapting to uncomfortable environment of valley of faqr o fana

I admire the culture of this valley. People of this valley believe in unity and eliminating differences. Which the travellers also adopted soon.

I admire the mirrors like streams of wisdom that flow in the valley of faqr o fana. They harbour reflections of thirty birds as one and one as thirty! These streams satisfy the thirst of knowledge. Those who drink from these beautiful free flowing streams in the valley of faqr o fana , are bestowed with eternal life.

This couplet of Iqbal kept echoing in my mind
نہ ہو نوميد ، نوميدي زوال علم و عرفاں ہے
 اميد مرد مومن ہے خدا کے راز دانوں ميں

This valley is my favourite valley because it resembles the pilgrimage season of holy kaba  When city of mekkah ul mukarrama turns into a valley of faqr o fana for muslims. May atleast 30 of these muslims succeed in finding sighmorgh. I have faith… and I hope that, one day a sighmorgh will emerge from this valley. Insha Allah.

"Come you lost Atoms to your Centre draw,
And be the Eternal Mirror that you saw!
Rays that have wander'd into Darkness wide
Return! and back into your Sun subside"   (attar)

A parable from Rumi

 I am heart. Matter and spirit can never weave a magic on me. Except one spirit named soul .oh  my own beautiful soul you are eternal ….you have seen the secrets beyond matter . I admire your flight beyond heavens. I love you because I have seen in you what no other can see. Your gravity defying dance and your song enchants me ...Had you known your worth. If only you had known that how precious you are! How beautiful you are, and what’s your status in my eyes. ……. I want you to stay with me.

Yes I cry I mourn , I wail on your current condition. Yes I pray day and night to God to cure you soon and I believe it will come true one day. I will give up my king ship in your honor. I will utilise all my resources to make you smile just once… if this doesn’t work. I will knock the door of GOD for Devine help . Without even letting you know that I am worried. God forbids this might make you even more sad. No…….. I can bear any thing  but cannot see you in pain and grief. O lord of seven heavens , all my kingship surrenders in front of you, all my resources are just like an atoms weight in your sight. Cure my soul…cure it please……

Atlast God has sent one of his precious friends to me for you. Oh wonderful soul look God is concerned about you too.. HE loves you too.. oh soul common smile please just once please… say something. break your silence let me know what can I do for you!

Ok… so that goldsmith (wealth) piece of cake for me…  I promise, I will bring him to you but promise me that you will smile and recover from your sickness.

Oh my beloved soul I never knew that to recover you from sickness I will have to suffer even  sever sickness than yours.  You are happy but what about me… now look at me…. I lost your attention I lost your sight………….. no…………….. I can’t live without you... I tremble in pain…… I lost the purpose of my life and existence… I will die………… help OH LORD… help again… what’s wrong with me oh God! ask your friend (mentor)..to heal me ... as he is trying to heal my dear soul……… may be I am in even more severe pain than that of hers….

Please do something…. This pain is unbearable……… this speration with my bleloved soul seems bitter than death to me…….. help……….

Thanks for you intoxicating potion oh caring mentor. yes it is giving me strength . its not that I have stopped to tremble in pain. But it is just that. now I am able to bear it… and kill it for some time… at least your potion has silenced me and I am able to pass fake smiles……..

Thanks for your help my lord and my mentor.

Atlast, Oh my soul you are able to judge right from wrong.  I know true love always wins .I welcome you back to be my queen. Come oh soul now I will show you the vastness of my kingdom and jewels and treasures I have reserved just for you. I don’t claim to be as good as your mentor but his potion has turned me mentor like. I will try to be as caring and loving as him. I have a surprise for you too. Be mine and I will bless you with the sight of THE ETERNAL , whom we both worship and are eager to meet with. THE HAPPY END
