the valley of faqr o fana … the hardest to reach the most rewarding and most pleasant. How wonderful adventure, it would have been; to discover myself; If I was one of those birds.
I admire the undaunted faith of these thirty travellers by deciding to explore this valley.
In the valley of faqr and fana the travellers received an excellent reward because they entered in it full of hope, That they will definitely find simorgh here… and they did !
I admire the self-discovery of these travellers in this valley. And yes this discovery is only possible by adapting to uncomfortable environment of valley of faqr o fana
I admire the culture of this valley. People of this valley believe in unity and eliminating differences. Which the travellers also adopted soon.
I admire the mirrors like streams of wisdom that flow in the valley of faqr o fana. They harbour reflections of thirty birds as one and one as thirty! These streams satisfy the thirst of knowledge. Those who drink from these beautiful free flowing streams in the valley of faqr o fana , are bestowed with eternal life.
This couplet of Iqbal kept echoing in my mind
نہ ہو نوميد ، نوميدي زوال علم و عرفاں ہے
اميد مرد مومن ہے خدا کے راز دانوں ميں
This valley is my favourite valley because it resembles the pilgrimage season of holy kaba When city of mekkah ul mukarrama turns into a valley of faqr o fana for muslims. May atleast 30 of these muslims succeed in finding sighmorgh. I have faith… and I hope that, one day a sighmorgh will emerge from this valley. Insha Allah.

"Come you lost Atoms to your Centre draw,
And be the Eternal Mirror that you saw!
Rays that have wander'd into Darkness wide
Return! and back into your Sun subside" (attar)

What a gorgeous and sunlit post this is of yours. While I could not come up with such eloquent words, I felt a mirror effect reading your description.
ReplyDeleteThe reminder of the "mirrors like streams of wisdom that flow in the valley of faqr o fana. They harbour reflections of thirty birds as one and one as thirty!..and the water which satisfied thirst and hunger after knowledge..." and more...
The poetic invitation from Attar compels tears it is so poignant, loving and recognizable as true in depth of soul.
Bless you for posting this...
